Human Trafficking Victims Services

Our Trafficking Victims Services Program consists of three main components

First, Africans in American, Inc. aggressively raises awareness and understanding of human trafficking issues within the community. This is designed to help people identify potential trafficking victims and to understand the unique issues and challenges faced by trafficking victims.

Africans in American, Inc. delivers an integrated array of both direct and informational referral services that are designed to help victims of human trafficking at each point along the continuum as they are transitioned from enslavement to the point of personal freedom.

Direct services include case management, service plan development, counseling and support, and cultural and social adjustment. When internal resources are not sufficient to meet the extensive needs of clients, they may be referred to other community-based service providers. Referral services include legal assistance, health care, mental health care, food and nutrition, vocational training, childcare, and other services as needed.

Third, Africans In America, Inc. conducts educational training sessions for other social service providers and law enforcement.

Africans In America, Inc. intends to engage available resources, apply best practices and co-ordinate short-term and long-term services to survivors of trafficking.

Program Objectives:

• Raise awareness of human trafficking issues and help the general public to understand that human trafficking and slavery continue to be a persistent problem throughout the world and in the United States.

• Secure the freedom of survivors of human trafficking (especially the immigrant African women and children) in the New York metropolitan area.

• Provide social services to promote the general well being of trafficking survivors and enable them to pursue their individual destinies.

Although continental African immigrant is our focus, our services are available to everyone irrespective of race, color, nationality, marital status, sex, sexual orientation or creed.
